A simple prayer for Congress
In a time of great uncertainty and international peril.

By Robert N. Rodenmayer, Chaplain, Daily Republican Newspaper

Most gracious God, we humbly ask, as for the people of this nation in general, so especially for the Senate and the Representatives in Congress assembled; please direct and prosper all their consultations to the advancement of the good of the people, upon the best and surest foundations, that peace and happiness, truth, justice, and virtue may be established among us.

Guide us to be truthful in thought, word, and deed. May no fear or hope ever make us false in act or speech.

Cast out from us all who love to lie, and bring us into a more perfect freedom in your truth. This we humbly beg that this nation may, from here on out, live together in the light of civil peace and harmony.

Illuminate and inspire our national and local leaders in whatever is true and pure. Bless and guide the people of the United States to be wise in electing senators and representatives that through wise legislation and faithful administration, the rights of all may be protected and our nation enabled.
